Activities
Tuesday Night Programs and weekend activities at Darrow reflect the energy and enthusiasm students and faculty have for our community. Many activities are organized by students, driven by their interests and talents.
Frequently, students prepare and present a cultural dinner in order to share the traditions and cuisine representing different backgrounds in our community. Events have included a celebration of the Chinese New Year, a Shabbat Dinner, and a Jamaican dinner. A Luau a "Sweet Sixteen" party, game nights, and movie nights, designed and orchestrated by the residents of individual dorms, have provided more fun for students. Coffeehouse, a student-run activity, allows both students and faculty to showcase their talents a few times a year.
Weekend activities are constantly growing and changing with the interests, needs, and talents of the Darrow community. Students provide input, and teachers suggest and chaperone activities of their choice, such as hiking, bowling, going out for a meal, catching the latest movies, or going to concerts. One even treated the community to a chocolate festival, including a flowing fountain of chocolate!
Special events are scheduled throughout the year, and take many forms. From the annual Maple Fest celebrating the campus sugar harvest and coming of spring, to the Darrow Prom, where students are transported in their finery by flatbed tractor rather than the traditional limousine, each event is uniquely "Darrow" and eagerly anticipated by all.
