Darrow Leads the Way in Educating for Sustainability.
Over the past 10 years, Darrow has increased its profile as a leader in sustainability. In classrooms and as a way of life, Darrow programs have gained recognition as "leading edge" and Darrow teachers have been featured presenters at national conferences, where they have shared the School's approach to teaching and living sustainability. Some of the recognition Darrow has received have been for the following:
- Presentation at The Association of Boarding Schools (TABS) national conference in Boston, MA, December 2003: "From Flushin' to Discussion: Sustainability Education in Boarding Schools"
Active participant with the New York State Energy Research and Development Authority (NYSERDA), including recipient of $18,000 grant for photovoltaic (solar) energy panels and presentations at state conferences
Clean Water Congress: Participant for past 9 years as well as host for past 3 years. Students have consistently placed in top 3 schools in this competition
